PERIODS
1940's-1950's-1960's
His early works consist of oil and watercolour paintings, which show us some moments of his personal and family life. He then became established as an artist of expressionism and informalist figurations and abstractions. The important moment of the 1960's was when he had an opportunity to present his artworks at the Salón de Marzo (March Hall Exhibition) together with renowned artists, such as Amadeo Gavino, Teixidor, Genovés or Ángeles Marco.
POP ART 1964-1967
In this phase he was influenced by the Pop movement, initiated on an international level in the 1960's. Incorporating social critique through the use of techniques of collage and various materials is significant for his work of that time.
ISOLATIONS 1967-1985
Expressing the “Non-communication of an individual isolated from his environment” begins his Isolations period. It started with the use of oil and developed into a mixed media technique, using metallic and mechanic pieces with integrated circuits. They always surround a character, which is a lonely individual and a victim at the same time. This era is possibly the most representative of ANZO and the one, in which the creative process was the most enjoyable for him.
LYRICAL GEOMETRY 1985-1993
After the previous phase, when ANZO experimented with various styles and forms he started to use the technique of a spot colour painting. Contrasting colours evoke dynamic and rhythmic forms. At the end, they all lead into the purest line of geometry.
SCULPTURES AND SYMBOLIC FURNITURE
Throughout Anzo's artistic career we can also encounter his explorations of the tri-dimensional universe, both in the field of furniture and monuments in a public space.
