ISOLATIONS (1967-1985)

 

With the Isolations Anzo informs about the loneliness, alienation and internal captivity through reflection on the loneliness and the lack of communication between a small individual and the society, which has been dehumanized by the technology; it's an alarm call warning us against alienating effects caused by the industrial progress and the modern consumer society. 

 

Anzo has already established himself in the field of graphic art. In his innovative and experimental artworks – through which he carried out a contribution recognized by everyone and in which he decided to free himself from conventional painting – he was trying out a new technique: photoengraving and painting on aluminum with subsequent colored glaze.

 

The ironic character disappears from his works and the compositions are being simplified. This peculiar sobriety of the Isolations emphasized his neo-objectivistic, relentless, cruel and cold language, similar to the results of the mechanical reproduction techniques. Certain degree of mystery – almost hermetic – emanated from the Isolations. It is the mystery similar to the isolation of men, who are alone between communication machines and transmission of messages; of individuals in a sad and aseptic loneliness, static, mute and engrossed in their impenitent quietism. 

 

Between 1981 and 1985 Anzo began Aislamiento 82-D. Homenaje a Eusebio Sempere (1981) y Homenaje a F.Léger (1991) as a tribute and as a final dedication. The Isolations were his definitive contribution to Mechanical Art and they placed him among the most distinguished innovators of the Spanish contemporary art.
